Justine and Daniel's Wedding at Sandbox Venue in San Diego's Historic Downtown area
I was introduced to this elegant, sweet young couple known as Justine and Daniel through their San Diego wedding planner, and my friend, Catherine Bachelier of catherinebachelier.com. Catherine and I have always worked great together, so she knew I would be able to connect with our couple. Connecting with couples is very important to me as I want to make sure I am the perfect fit for their big day. Justine, Daniel, and I took the time to get to know each other and figure out what a successful, fun wedding was to everyone. I learned a lot about them during this period. They both loved each other very much, and were very appreciative of the guest coming to celebrate with them but did not like to be the center of attention. I understand that every bride and groom I work with is different so I created a timeline that was comfortable for everyone. After a few days of talking, Justine and Daniel booked me as their San Diego wedding DJ. They also made the wise decision to rent my photo booth, which is a fun addition for guest entertainment. As a wedding DJ here in San Diego, its imperative to understand that every couple I meet is unique and its my job to make sure their wedding matches their vision.
The ceremony and reception were held at the Sandbox Venue located in San Diego’s historic downtown district. I have been to this venue a few times and have had nothing but great experiences. It’s very visually appealing, with high ceilings and charming brick walls. This venue is the essence of industrial chic.
Justine and Daniel’s ceremony was absolutely beautiful. I love the feeling of suspense between the beginning of the the processional song and right before our bride begins to walk down the aisle. It seems like the room gets silent for that one little moment that feels like eternity. Thats the little moment that gives everyone that sense of love and excitement that comes to us so rarely. A moment I cherish at all my weddings.
After the ceremony, Justine and Daniel took a stroll around historic downtown San Diego with Paul of LunaPhoto for romantic portraits. Their friends and family, coming from as far as Japan to show their love and support, stayed at the venue to enjoy hors d’oeuvres and specialty drinks
The timeline we built did not include a first dance, but it did have a grand entrance. I reintroduced Justine and Daniel as husband and wife for the very first time as all their guest cheered and the room filled with energy
During dinner, the venue lowered their projector screen on which I played a video showing the couple growing up, doing activities, and ultimately joining paths. This video brought a feeling that was very nostalgic to our guest, so naturally I followed it up with speakers for toasts. I do have to say it was awesome to see Justine and Daniel’s reactions while their family and friends spoke. This was an absolute fun group of friends and family.
Our last formal events began with the cake cutting ceremony and let me tell you, I was so excited to see the donuts display! We then finished with the bouquet toss. After all the formal events were over, it was time to pack the dance floor!
I had family and friends dancing together and taking full advantage of the photo booth. I saw Justine and Daniel right out there on the dance floor dancing the night away and enjoying their big celebration.
A special thanks to Catherine Bachelier of catherinebachelier.com/ for coordinating a great group of vendors. To Paula of lunaphoto for her incredible magazine-quality photography. To Tina of tinaqphotography for taking fun and amazing photobooth photos. Lastly, thank you to our bartenders, staff, and the owner of Sandbox Venue for being so flexible and helpful.
