Sarah and Drew's Wedding at Sweetwater Farms
One of the really unique things about being one of the best wedding DJs in San Diego is the variety of weddings that I get to be a part of. San Diego has the reputation of being a beach city, but that doesn’t mean all of our weddings have a beachy feel to it. I have been exposed to different types of weddings stretching from vintage and classic to creative and exclusive. Don't get me wrong though, I have worked a lot of beach weddings; but if a bride and groom want a less beachy feel, they don’t have to look too far. My team and I can achieve any type of wedding here in San Diego - and this is an example of one of them. A country wedding…Yeeee haw!
Sarah and Drew are the kind of couple that knew exactly what kind of wedding they wanted. From the different types of country music to the venue, these two engineers took off their hardhats and put on their cowboy hats to marry country-style on a ranch by the barn! Sweetwater Farms was the venue they chose, and I came a few hours earlier to set up with all the correct music and microphone equipment alongside the photo booth and dance floor.
We began with the ceremony like we normally do, where our couple said I do. Our officiant was a good family friend who became ordained to be able to marry our couple. I made sure to review the ceremony with him as it was his first time officiating a wedding.
After cocktail hour, things were done a little different. I gathered everyone around the dance floor to watch Sarah and Drew do their first dance. Being surrounded by family and friends was really important for our couple when we has our first meeting, so I thought this would be a great way for everyone to show their support. The first dance was absolutely perfect with Drew twirling Sarah around on the dance floor. I made sure to grab a quick photo of them while they danced to personalize their photo booth strips. It’s the subtle uniqueness that I bring to weddings that really make the bride and groom’s day that much better. Our couple and guests really loved and appreciated the personalized, unique photo booth strips.
Before we opened up the dance floor, Sarah and Drew played a modified shoe game with the guests. The two of them sat in the center of the barn, backs to each other, and instead of shoes Sarah had Drew’s hat and Drew had Sarah’s bouquet. Again surrounded by friends and family, they had to answer adorable questions about each other using only the correct shoe to show the answer. Such a cute idea. I delegated this job to one of their best friends. He provided cute questions like “who is most likely to get a speeding ticket?” Or “who leaves their towels on the bathroom floor the most?” It was another unique touch that brought friends and family together for our couple.
Sarah had requested country line dancing songs during dancing time and it didn't take long to see why. This group was full of dancers! Friends and family were out there really doing their thing on the dancefloor. I had her playlist ready to go and additional songs from my library ready as I kept the dance floor full through the night.
No matter what your dream wedding is, don’t hesitate to go for it. My team and I will work hard to make anything happen here in San Diego.
A big thanks to Sweetwater Farms for their amazing venue and staff. Also to Allison Davis photography (https://www.allisondavisphotography.com/) for these amazing photos. Shout out to tinaqphotography for running the photo booth and being my right-hand (wo)man.
