Ling and Ford's Martin Johnson House Wedding in La Jolla
Ling and Ford are a couple that have really made an impression on me. I have met many couples over the years, but these two were elegant, kind, smart, incredibly in love, amazingly fun, and super talented.
I was referred to Ling and Ford by the wonderful Heather Willmus from Willmus Weddings. She was voted top wedding planner for 2019 in San Diego and I have no doubts as to why. She knew that I was the perfect fit for Ling and Ford being a top San Diego wedding DJ and had me all up to speed with the timeline and music request weeks before. I showed up to the Martin Johnson house ready to go.
I’ve always loved this San Diego wedding venue because it provides such a jaw-dropping back drop for the ceremony. Our couple exchanged vows with the ever-pretty La Jolla shores behind them and the bluest of skies. During the service, our couple included the traditional tea ceremony to honor both of their parents. It was a very touching moment; both of their families had traveled very far to be here for this day.
During our cocktail hour, Ling changed into a traditional red dress for the reception. We welcomed the newlyweds and they went into an incredible choreographed first dance. It was so fun! It had a little bit of every dance style mixed in and when they both nailed the Floss – I considered it the highlight of my night.
After the first dance we had some very touching and funny speeches followed up by the parent dances. Speeches were performed both in English and Chinese.
As the night progressed, we got the party started on the dance floor and at the photo booth. It was a chilly night, so I had everyone out there dancing and keeping warm.
When the dancing began to slow down, I introduced a game of musical chairs which brought family and friends together one more time on the dance floor to battle it out.
Thank you to Heather Willmus from Willmus Weddings for planning and coordinating this awesome night. Thank you to the Martin Johnson House at La Jolla for providing the beautiful venue. Shout out to Christopher Willmus (Videos), my brother from another French Mother, for capturing all the memories and providing these great pictures. Lastly, thank you to Tina Q Photography for making the photo booth tons of fun!
