Katie and David's Backyard Wedding in Escondido
If ever there was a truly unique wedding, this one takes the cake and the crown. Katie and David were impressed with a wedding vision I brought to life for Mark and Sam. Theirs was a fun, quirky, and very unique wedding - to match Mark and Sam’s own personalities. So Katie and David came armed with their own ideas, and I was ready for it.
Drum roll please - this couple wanted a King’s Guard wedding, with the groomsmen dressed in armor, ready to protect their King and Queen in battle by any means, armed with spears and ready to lavish the couple with beverages all night long.
The celebration began with nuptials at Mark and Rock-N-Jenny’s Estate in Escondido. We admired the royal couple as they wed by the poolside. Once married, I guided our guests to the seating area to enjoy a few cocktails.
After the cocktail hour, I introduced the bridal party and they then made a tunnel to give the bride and groom the proper entrance. With spears in the air, creating an archway fit for a king and queen, our newlyweds were announced as they made their way through, after which the first dance began.
I made certain champagne was poured while I prepared speakers for their toasts. Katie’s father made a truly heartfelt speech, the maid of honor officially welcomed David into the family, and for the grand finale toast, the best man gathered the King’s Guard for a special reverse toast - a song they sang for everyone in attendance - Piano Man, by Billy Joel.
Next on our evening’s activities was the shoe game, led by one of the bridesmaids, cake cutting - of course, with the King doing the honorary first cut with a sword - and finally, open dancing.
I want to thank Katie and David for giving me the opportunity to MC and DJ their awesome, unique wedding. And thank you to Tina of TinaQPhotography, for the photos and assistance. Cheers to the royally wedded couple.
