Katrina & Daniel's Wedding: Nonstop Fun and Dance at The Dana on Mission Bay
DJ Tony Kings at Katrina & Daniel's Wedding at The Dana on Mission Bay: A Night to Remember
As a San Diego wedding DJ with over 10 years of experience, I’ve had the privilege of playing at some incredible weddings, but Katrina and Daniel’s big day at The Dana on Mission Bay will always stand out. From the heartfelt ceremony to the non-stop dancing, this celebration was nothing short of spectacular. The Dana on Mission Bay is an iconic wedding venue with a stunning waterfront view, perfect for a wedding as unique as Katrina and Daniel’s. The intimate vibe, combined with the beautiful outdoor spaces, made for a dreamy ceremony and cocktail hour, and the reception that followed was full of energy and excitement. The team at The Dana, including their amazing coordinator Heather from Willmus Weddings, made sure everything went off without a hitch.
The Ceremony: Music, Jokes & Heartfelt Moments
For the ceremony, I had the honor of providing the music while The Dana’s staff set up the microphones. As a fellow officiant, I couldn't resist offering a little pep talk to the officiant, who was actually a good friend of Katrina and Daniel and officiating his first wedding. His nervousness quickly turned into a beautifully heartfelt ceremony with a few jokes sprinkled in for fun.
The music was carefully curated to match the mood of each moment, helping to set the tone for this unforgettable beginning to the couple’s journey. It was an emotional and beautiful ceremony, filled with laughter, love, and the promise of forever. After, cocktail hour.
Grand Entrance & Reception: Let the Party Begin!
Once the cocktail hour wrapped up, I invited all the guests to head inside to get the party started. The vibe immediately shifted into high gear as I announced the grand entrance of the newlyweds. The bridal party created a tunnel for Katrina and Daniel to walk through, and they made their way into the reception with excitement and joy.
The night continued with their first dance, followed by dinner. After everyone had their fill, I introduced the heartfelt speeches and parent dances. By this time, the energy in the room was building, and guests were ready to hit the dance floor.
Nonstop Dancing: A Night to Remember
After the formalities, I welcomed everyone to the dance floor, and from there, it was non-stop fun. Katrina and Daniel knew exactly how to keep the party going — their “ratchet hour” was an epic mix of rap, hip hop, and EDM, which got everyone on their feet and dancing the night away.
The couple’s energy was contagious, and their guests couldn’t help but join in. At one point, the bride was so caught up in the moment that she fell to the floor — but with such grace that it was impossible not to laugh and cheer! It became part of the fun, and the energy only grew from there.
As much as they wanted to party, there was no private last dance — Katrina and Daniel were determined to dance until the very last moment of the night, and they did just that.
